Standerton, Mpumalanga – In a significant crackdown ahead of Women’s Month, a 59-year-old suspect was arrested in Standerton for possession of child sexual abuse material, marking the 16th arrest under OPERATION BAD VIBES.
The breakthrough came on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, when an integrated law enforcement team executed a search-and-seizure warrant at the suspect’s property. Authorities confiscated 15 licensed firearms and multiple digital devices.
Forensic experts analyzing the seized materials uncovered a staggering 56,000 videos and images of child sexual abuse, with investigations still ongoing.
The operation was spearheaded by the Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) Unit in Mpumalanga, with crucial support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the U.S. Embassy, the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), and Standerton’s designated firearm officers.
The suspect appeared in the Standerton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 31 July 2025, with the case postponed to 04 August 2025 for a formal bail hearing.
OPERATION BAD VIBES, launched in 2023, is a collaborative effort between the SAPS and HSI, targeting individuals involved in the access, possession, production, and distribution of child sexual abuse material across global networks.
