Midrand, Gauteng – In a major breakthrough, law enforcement officers recovered four stolen high-performance vehicles and a cache of tools used for vehicle theft during an intelligence-led operation in Midrand on Friday, 01 August 2025.
The operation also led to the arrest of one suspect, while authorities continue to hunt for additional members of the syndicate believed to be operating across Gauteng and neighboring provinces.
How the Syndicate Was Uncovered
Acting on a tip-off from Crime Intelligence, a multi-unit task force comprising:

- Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing
- CAP Specialised Operations
- Tracker Connect
tracked down the suspects in Midrand.
Key Recoveries
- A Toyota CHR with false registration plates (stolen in Krugersdorp, June 2025)
- A signal jamming device (used to block tracking signals)
- A computer box (used to reprogram stolen vehicles)
- Tools for vehicle theft
- Three additional stolen vehicles (taken from Johannesburg and Tshwane)
Suspect in Custody, More at Large
The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges including vehicle theft and hijacking.
Police have urged the public to report suspicious activities as investigations continue to dismantle the syndicate.
